Sephiria Combo Family Guide
Choose Sephiria artifact combo families by build role, weapon fit, payoff timing, and what to avoid before committing inventory space.
Quick answer
Combo tags are the fastest way to understand a Sephiria build. Two matching artifacts start the family, and higher tag counts add more effects. A full 10-count combo can be powerful, but it is not always the correct goal. Some families are main damage engines, while others are support packages that make a weapon or another combo work.

Main damage families
| Combo family | What it does | Best when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adds fire scaling and burn support. | You are using fire weapon enhancements, burn routes, Sun Sword support, or high-damage fire spellbooks. | Burn needs enough stack support before it becomes a boss plan. | |
| Adds ice damage, frostbite, freezing, and crowd control. | You want safer rooms, freeze windows, ice weapon triggers, or stable boss control. | Bosses can resist repeated freeze control, so do not rely on stun alone. | |
| Summons automatic lightning strikes around the player. | You want hands-off room clear, lightning scaling, and a late-game auto-attack engine. | It needs capacity and activation support before it feels dominant. | |
| Throws reusable fire swords from weapon or spellbook hits. | You attack frequently and can collect or auto-manage the fallen swords. | If you cannot keep attacking or collecting swords, the damage loop dries up. | |
| Improves ice weapon charge, damage, and extra activation. | You have ice weapon artifacts and want bursty wide-area triggers. | Many pieces are higher rarity and can be awkward to fit with slabs. | |
| Builds around planet artifacts and autonomous damage. | You already have planet pieces and attack-cycle support. | Full completion can be inventory-heavy without combo help. | |
| Adds critical chance and critical damage. | Almost any damage source can crit or benefits from stronger final hits. | It is excellent support, but do not let it replace the build's actual engine. |
Support and utility families
| Combo family | What it supports | Best pairings |
|---|---|---|
| Attack speed, weapon damage, dash count, and smoother rhythm. | Dagger, rapier, crossbow attack-speed routes, dash builds, Sun Sword, Planet. | |
| Max MP, MP regeneration, and MP-consuming ability damage. | Spellbook builds, special attack spam, Guidance Module crossbow, Academy. | |
| Spellbook acceleration, spellbook damage, and MP regeneration at high count. | Magic Wand, Academy Magic Sword, magic katana, Ilonika staff. | |
| Defense, defense penetration, and damage-tank routes. | Sword and Shield, Bone Greatsword, Staff counters, Cutlassfish, Crocodile-style defense scaling. | |
| Physical damage and normal/special attack support. | Melee weapons, physical builds, final-hit builds, greatsword, staff, crossbow magazine routes. | |
| Evasion and safer repositioning. | Dagger Fury, evasion katana, dash builds, risky melee routes. | |
| Ally damage, ally defense, and respawn speed at high count. | Summon-focused artifacts, Lazarion greatsword, Darkness dagger, Karim crossbow, stall builds. | |
| Debuff damage and movement speed. | Burn, shock, frostbite, freezing, wound, poison, and other debuff-first routes. | |
| Lightning damage and electric shock support. | Lightning weapons, Dark Clouds, shock builds, lightning crossbow and staff routes. | |
| Doubles level effectiveness in specific inventory spaces. | Artifact-heavy runs with strong slab planning. | |
| Leaves, negotiation power, and late-game money-to-damage value. | Early economy snowball or final boss setups with spare inventory. | |
| Highest-attribute scaling. | Hybrid or chaos-style builds where one top attribute drives several effects. |
How to choose
| If your run looks like this | Choose first | Add later |
|---|---|---|
| Fire weapon, burn, Sun Sword | Embers | Precision, Sun Sword, Academy, Curse |
| Ice control or ice weapon burst | Glacier | Ice Weapon, Wind Song, Lake, Precision |
| Lightning and automatic attacks | Dark Clouds | Hextech, Precision, Wind Song |
| Spellbooks and MP spending | Academy | Lake, Element, matching fire/ice/lightning tag |
| Guard, counter, defense scaling | Guardian | Firmness, Wind Song, Lake |
| Dagger Fury or dash-heavy play | Shadow | Wind Song, Precision, Embers |
| Summon or companion route | Companion | Precision, Guardian, Curse |
| Unsure but already dealing damage | Precision | The element or weapon family you are actually using |
Combo discipline
The strongest-looking combo is not always the strongest run. Most builds should commit to one main engine and one or two support families, then use the inventory to keep those pieces active.
| Decision | Good sign | Bad sign |
|---|---|---|
| Main engine | The family directly matches your weapon enhancement or repeated attack habit. | You only want it because the final threshold looks powerful. |
| Support family | It fixes the route's real weakness: MP, speed, defense, crit, control, or sustain. | It adds another condition before the build can work. |
| Tablet layout | Key artifacts gain levels and penalties land on safe cells. | A penalty disables the item that made the combo worth taking. |
| Tag count | The next threshold changes how the run plays. | You are spending several slots for a small passive gain. |
| Boss readiness | The combo still works when movement, dodging, or reload timing gets harder. | The combo only works in easy rooms with perfect spacing. |
What to avoid
Do not chase a 10-count combo just because the final line looks strong. A weaker combo that directly supports your weapon often beats a full combo that does not solve your current problem.
Do not stack too many support families. Lake, Wind Song, Guardian, Shadow, and Precision are all useful, but a run still needs a main damage engine.
Do not ignore slab placement. Combo tags only matter if the artifacts stay active. If a slab penalty pushes an artifact to -1, that item no longer contributes.
After you choose a family
Once a family is chosen, compare weapons and builds by the trigger they repeat most often:
| Family | First page to check | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Embers or Sun Sword | Weapons Guide | Fire routes depend heavily on whether the weapon can keep attacks or spellbook hits flowing. |
| Glacier or Ice Weapon | Builds | Freeze and ice routes need enough support to become more than occasional control. |
| Dark Clouds or Hextech | Artifacts & Slabs | Lightning routes need activation support and inventory capacity before the automatic damage feels strong. |
| Academy or Lake | Builds | Spellbook and MP routes live or die by their economy. |
| Guardian or Firmness | Weapons Guide | Defense and physical routes change a lot by weapon timing, guard access, and final-hit behavior. |
